Pakistan Railway is inviting applications for the following positions:
- Director, IT (MP-11 Scale)
- Deputy Director, IT Infrastructure (MP-III Scale)
Position Descriptions
Director (Information Technology) (MP-II)
- Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems with 5 years of relevant professional experience, OR
- Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences, MBA in IT, or MBA in CIS/MIS with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Age: Maximum 62 years
Deputy Director, IT Infrastructure (MP-III)
- Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, or IT with 3 years of hands-on experience in IT/Networks/IT Infrastructure, OR
- Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, IT, or a similar field with 5 years of hands-on experience in servers, routing, switching, and firewall.
- Age: Maximum 62 years
Recruitment Details
- Policy: Recruitment will follow the updated MP Scales Policy, 2021 as issued by the Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan (O.M. No. 1/3/2020-E-6/E-8 dated 24-05-2021).
- Contract: The appointment is on a contract basis for an initial period of 3 years, extendable for up to 2 additional years based on performance.

- Location: Positions are based at Pakistan Railways HQ Office, Lahore, but candidates may be posted anywhere in Pakistan as required.

Eligibility Criteria for Director, IT (MP-11 Scale)
- Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems with 5 years of relevant professional experience, OR
- Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences, MBA in IT, or MBA in CIS/MIS with 7 years of relevant experience.
- Age: Maximum 62 years
Skills & Knowledge:
- For Ph.D. holders: At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing large IT-related physical and institutional infrastructure.
- For Master’s degree holders: At least 7 years of end-to-end architecture and deployment experience.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, IT/Business strategy, and cloud-based solutions and security frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Systems Architecture and Cisco networking architecture.
- Strong communication skills to explain concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent managerial and strategic planning abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-term infrastructure and technology strategies.
- Manage large-scale projects and advocate for new technologies.
- Supervise IT personnel and oversee all IT infrastructure operations within Pakistan Railways.
- Ensure the smooth functioning of passenger ticketing, reservation systems, and other IT-based operations.
- Contribute to maintenance management, asset management, and strategic planning.
